should be double-sided printed. The binding margin should be set to 1 cm, but the cover page should not have a binding margin.

1-2 Font and Paragraph Spacing Settings:

1-2.1 The Chinese text should use “PMingLiU 12”, with full-width punctuation.

1-2.2 The English text should use “Times New Roman 12”.

1-2.3 Direct quotations of others’ text in Chinese should be marked with “DFKai-SB” font, and foreign language quotes should be enclosed in quotation marks “ ”. Quotations exceeding two lines should be set in a new paragraph with “full paragraph indentation and single line spacing”. Chinese text should still be in “DFKai-SB” font, while foreign language quotes should not use quotation marks. The footnote marker for the source should be placed at the end of the quotation.

1-2.4 Paragraph spacing in the main text should be set to double line spacing. However, indented quotations, footnotes, listed statements within the text, and the bibliography should be set to single line spacing, with a blank line between different footnotes, entries, or bibliography items. Headings longer than one line (including subtitles) should also be set to single line spacing.

1-3 Various Naming Conventions:

1-3.1 Titles of all forms of works in Chinese should be marked with 《》, and in foreign languages with italics.

1-3.2 Important terms in the main text that are in a foreign language should be provided in parentheses upon their first appearance. For work titles and names, include the date of the work or the birth and death years of the person as appropriate.

1-3.3 Dates should be given in the Gregorian calendar. If necessary, the ROC era date can be included in parentheses.

The citation format includes both notes and bibliography. Turabian provides specific guidelines for citing various types of music literature (dictionaries, books, journals, theses, CD databases, scores, audiovisual materials, etc.) in notes or bibliographies. Below are examples of using footnotes and commonly referenced materials in Chinese. For detailed guidelines, refer to Turabian and the “Online Thesis Formatting Handbook”.

2-1 Use of Footnotes

The primary purpose of footnotes is to present detailed information about references cited in the text, provide correct academic information from previous scholarly works, and offer readers additional references for further reading. Additionally, the author can provide supplementary explanations or discussions here without disrupting the flow of the main text.

2-2 Citation Styles for Various Literature in Notes (N) and Bibliography (B):

2-3 Footnote Formatting Instructions

2-3.1 Each piece of information within a note should be separated by commas, while bibliography entries should use periods for separation.
2-3.2 The first line of each footnote should be indented.
2-3.3 The line spacing for each note should be single-spaced, with a blank line between notes on the same page.

2-4 Bibliography Formatting Instructions

2-4.1 Each bibliography entry should be single-spaced, with a blank line between entries.
2-4.2 The first line of each entry should be left-aligned, and subsequent lines should be indented.
2-4.3 Entries should be ordered first by Chinese sources, followed by foreign languages. Chinese entries should be arranged by the number of strokes in the author’s name, from fewest to most. Foreign entries should be ordered alphabetically. If there are many entries (more than two pages), they may be categorized by type of material.

2-5 Additional Notes

2-5.1 When using a reference for the first time, provide a complete explanation in the footnote. For subsequent references within the same text, only the author’s or editor’s name and the year should be indicated unless ambiguity may arise. For example: 羅基敏 1999, 25 or Lo 1999, 25.2-5.2 Ensure that punctuation and formatting for Chinese and foreign bibliographic entries are not mixed.

         <div class="elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title" aria-selected="false" data-tab="3" role="tab" tabindex="-1"
